Crank walk is a hot topic among Mitsubishi enthusiasts. The problem is due to inadequate load area on early 7-bolt (93-97) 4G63 engines. These engines had a half circle thrust surface that did not provide adequate load capacity to handle severe thrust loads. Mitsubishis solution to the problem was to change to a full circle thrust washer design which effectively doubled the thrust capacity of the engine. This change was implemented for 1998 and later 4G63 engines. |
